This month’s lesson is about Energy and Sunshine.
Spring has sprung and summer is already here. The weather is beginning to hot up and day after day we encounter beautiful blue skies and sunshine. Doesn't it make us feel good when the sun is shining?
The beginning of summer is when buds are beginning to burst with energy, with new life and this is much of what this month's lesson is about--ENERGY and the sunshine.
The sun and advent of summer and everything connected to it is about energy. The birth of new life in nature; the sights and smells of summer are heartwarming and give us energy whether we realize it, or not. There are so many things that we love and make us feel good when the sun is out and summer is in full bloom, but do we take advantage of the energy we get from the sun and how much do we realize that we can use this energy?
Isn’t it funny how even on our worse days, in the spring and summer, or just simply when the sun is out, our bad times seem just a little bit more manageable? Why is that?
Rosemary recounts a story from her very close friend, Joan, in England, who one beautiful summers day came out of her house taking in the beauty and glory of summer and all of it’s miracles, the birds singing, the plants blooming, flowers blossoming, people around her in good moods with smiles on their faces and bumping into her neighbor she said, “Isn’t today just a beautiful day?” Without missing a beat, her neighbor replied, “Yes it is, but every day is beautiful. It’s just that today the sun is shining!” This statement resonated so much with Joan that she recounted it to Rosemary and now Rosemary is passing it along you in the form of a lesson. But what’s the lesson here? As we said, sunshine is an energy force that we can use.
So the lesson for this month is that even on rainy days, if we can remember that feeling, or feelings that summer, or the sun shining gives to us, whether we’re depressed, lonely, sick, or just down…whatever might be bothering us on that particularly gloomy day, if we try to remember-- to hold on to the sunny, summer feelings that make us smile, that make us feel good, if we use the energy we’ve gotten from the sunshine that brightens many of our days, perhaps our gloomy day might see a sliver of light . This lesson is to teach ourselves to use the energy received from that sun, or summer’s day and try to visualize how it made us feel. Now that summer is actually here for many of us, it’s an excellent time try to get as much energy from the sun as we can.
Remember every bright moment that you experience this summer and store it for a rainy day.
Here are some ways that you can capture the essence of summer and put it into something more tangible.
1) List ten of your most favorite things about summer and say why they are your favorites.
2) Then, when you think of these favorite things how do they make you feel?
3) Take those feelings from your favorite things and bring them into your gloomy, or winters days…using this energy we can bring that positive energy feeling into our lives even when it is winter.
Enjoy the summer months ahead of us and soak up as much energy as you can!
