A common mistake of most healers is that they give so much to others, and in the process, drain their own energy. Believe it or not, in the last twenty-five years that I have worked as a spiritual medium and healer, I have seen many wonderful healers become sick or worn out because they give so much of themselves to others, and have no clue as to how to protect themselves in the process.
One of the first lessons my students learn is..First give healing to yourself, then, and only then, will you be ready to give healing to others. Sounds selfish, I hear some of you say, but let me assure you that, 1:- There is nothing wrong with being selfish, as long as you don't hurt anyone else. 2:- If you constantly give to others, and fail to replenish your own energy, then eventually you will be of no use to anyone, not even yourself.
Healing is not about giving your power away! Healing is about a joining of forces, that incredible God force, that God given force that we all possess, and that universal force which is made up in part by those in the spirit world who are there to help us.
The rules of healing are clear. Healing is not about the healer, nor should it become so.
Healing is also not about the patient, at least not at first. Healing is about making a connection, making a connection to that higher power, and then understanding that we as healers are simply the conduit for that power. That doesn't mean the healer doesn't have a role to play, of course they do, but the role they play is much simpler, much less about the cure, and much more effective because the pressure of needing a cure is not there.
When approaching a patient to give healing, it is important to make clear the role a healer plays. We are not God, and no matter how much we think we know, we cannot know God's mind. If we start our healing with a prayer to God, asking for our patient to be cured, not only do we put ourselves under tremendous pressure to effect a cure, we might as well be saying to God, "we know what's best for this patient"..and we might inadvertently be asking, "Dear God, please stop my patient from having the very best experience he could have."
Death is not a punishment, nor is illness of any kind, just an experience we will all go through, a lesson to be learned, a chance for our spiritual growth, although I would understand anyone disagreeing with me on that point.
I always begin my healing with a prayer. My students are taught this prayer, and are taught to understand it. My patients are given this prayer, and helped to understand what we mean when we say it. This is a prayer that we can use, not just when giving healing, but at any time, and not just for the benefit of others, but for our own benefit as well.
The lesson this month is simple. Every day, and at least twice a day, I would like you to recite this prayer for yourself. Every day I would like you to recite this prayer for at least one other person, or persons, at a time separate from that time you give to yourself.
Keep notes as to how you are feeling, and try to summarize your progress each week, and that of your "patients".
"Dear God, allow me to be a clear and pure channel for you healing work.
Allow me to join my energy, my power, with the power of God and those universal healing forces,
To connect my power to the power of the universe.
I would ask that all those in the spirit world who would like to help,
That they draw close to me now, that I may do thy will.
Dear God...I WILL TO THY WILL,
Whatever it is that you will for my patient,
Allow me to be a small part of that healing process...Amen".
The most important thing a healer MUST understand is the difference it makes when you put God's will first, last and completely. "Dear God, I will to thy will". Learn this, and you will become more effective, more complete as a healer, and less stressed about how much your healing is working.
