Focus On Your Ambitions
With a title like this, I suppose the first thing we have to ask is "do we have any ambitions"? We all do, I think, although we might not see them as such. Perhaps wishes, dreams, aspirations, hopes...these might be those more familiar words that we might use to describe the ambitions in our lives. We wish our children have better lives than we did, we hope for peace in the world, we dream of that perfect relationship..and so on. >>>

With a title like this, I suppose the first thing we have to ask is "do we have any ambitions"? We all do, I think, although we might not see them as such. Perhaps wishes, dreams, aspirations, hopes...these might be those more familiar words that we might use to describe the ambitions in our lives. We wish our children have better lives than we did, we hope for peace in the world, we dream of that perfect relationship..and so on.

It is easy to have those ambitions for our children, our spouse, our loved ones, but this exercise is concerned only with those dreams and aspirations that we have for ourselves. Those truly personal and even life changing desires that we might hold in our hearts, but don't know how to bring about.

I was speaking to a good friend this morning, just before writing up this lesson, and as I was telling her about it, she said, "Well Rosemary, I think it's easier to say what you don't want in life, but much harder to say what you do want".

So I asked her to tell me what, if she had three wishes, and only one hour to use them before they were taken away, would she wish for herself, and it was amazing how focused she suddenly became.

"Good health. Financial security. Great personal relationship...these were her main dreams for herself, her primary goals, her hopes for the future. But how or what could she do to make those hopes and dreams a reality?????

So here is the lesson, something I have been using with my clients and my patients for more than twenty-four years. It's simple, it's easy, and it works.

Take a large piece of card, white or light colored, and some crayons. Make a border around the card at least an inch and a half deep, and fill it with lots of bright and colorful patterns. Hearts, moons, stars and sun's, or abstract shapes, and be careful not to use any grays, blacks or dark, dreary colors. When this is done, take some time to think of your wish list. It cannot be a wish for some-one else, only something specifically for you...otherwise it will not work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are a few suggestions you might like to consider.
"Loosing ten pounds"
"Five thousand dollars in the bank"
"A great new job"
"A good relationship"
"A new car"

When you have decided the five most important things on your wish list for yourself, write them down in bold letters in the center of the card, in order of importance..using a black felt tip pen Then find a wall to hang it. It can be in your bathroom, your kitchen, bedroom, any room you go into on a daily basis. At first it will be obvious to you, like that new picture or mirror, then you will begin to ignore it, it will become almost invisible to you most of the time. But...your subconscious will register it every time, and every day you will be reminded in a subtle way of your ambitions. Your mind will focus without you even being aware of it.

The three rules are:-
1)Do not use dark colors around your border.
2)Put it in a room that you use every day.
3) Do not have more than FIVE wishes written up.

I had a client who was in a dead end job, no money, two small children, with no relationship..and no hope. She was desperate, but had no idea how to change her life. I gave her the "Ambition card" to try, which she did. Her aspirations were to have a better job, $1,000 in the bank, a good relationship, and a new car. She came back to see me a year later..she had a great new job, was almost to her goal of $1,000, feeling immensely pleased with herself, as she well should, and was working on the rest. Working, focusing, her subconscious driving her forward to a better and more fulfilled way of life.

Try it. What can it hurt. You don't even have to leave the house. Thoughts are living things and can transfer to positive and constructive action. The "Ambition card" will help you focus on the positives of life, and will improve your quality of life drastically, if this is what you truly desire.
